Improving the Parenting Relationship with the Other Person
Parenting after separation or divorce can be challenging. Even when both parents want what's best for their child, it can be difficult to communicate and agree on how to co-parent effectively.
We offer a confidential, neutral space where parents can work through their parenting issues with the support of an experienced family mediator. The focus is on helping you communicate better with each other and make joint decisions in the best interests of your child.
Our family mediators will help you:
- Improve how you communicate as parent's keeping discussion focused on your child's needs
- Develop parenting plans that cover living arrangements, schooling, holidays and other important matters.
- Reduce conflict and avoid putting children in the middle of disputes
- Hear and consider the voice of your child, ensuring their welfare is central to any agreement. This can be done directly, indirectly or by way of a Family Session depending on the family circumstances. Children can be invited to meet the family mediator on their own giving them an opportunity to give their views in a confidential setting. This only takes place with the parents' and the child's permission.
Family mediation is not about revisiting the past, it is about creating a more cooperative parenting relationship for the future.
