Divorce
Divorce is a court order made by the Court to end a marriage. You and your spouse must live apart from one another for at least two out of the previous three years to be eligible for a divorce. When granting a divorce the court can make orders about what the future living arrangements, contact and financial responsibility will be for the children of the marriage, as well as in relation to the property of the marriage and pension arrangements. The difference between a divorce and judicial separation is that after a divorce, both parties can remarry.

Client Testimonial
After being served divorce proceedings by his wife’s solicitor, John turned to one of our Law Centres for help. With our support, John was able to secure a divorce, including orders for his wife to pay maintenance for each of their children. Both John and his wife retained their individual pension entitlements, as agreed upon the condition that neither of them would claim against the others.
“I was satisfied with the outcome and felt that it would allow me to get on with my life with some security for our children.”
