Domestic Violence is physical, sexual, emotional or psychological violence which threatens the safety or welfare of family members, and certain people in other domestic relationships. Domestic violence is a crime. You should report the matter to the Gardaí. The Gardaí have the power to arrest and charge a person who is violent.
We can provide legal aid to help you obtain Domestic Violence remedies such as a Safety Order, Protection Order, Barring Order, Interim Barring Order and Emergency Barring Order.

Priority Applications
Domestic violence applications are treated with priority in our Law Centres. All applications received in Law Centres are assessed by the managing solicitor of the Law Centre for priority.
If the Law Centre cannot offer a priority appointment or service where it is required, the applicant will be granted an authority for advice from a private practitioner or will be granted a legal aid certificate for representation in court from a private practitioner.
