Minister Jim O’Callaghan Visits Law Centre Smithfield to Highlight Legal Aid Board Services
5th June 2025: The Legal Aid Board was pleased to welcome Minister Jim O Callaghan TD to Law Centre Smithfield.
Located in the heart of Dublin, the Centre plays a key role in supporting individuals and families. The Centre provides legal aid to those who qualify, in areas such as divorce, childcare orders, and international protection.
Speaking during the visit, Legal Aid Board CEO Joan Crawford said:
“We are proud of the work done every day by our colleagues in Smithfield and throughout the country. Legal aid is a cornerstone of access to justice – and this Centre demonstrates how accessible, community-based services can make a real difference to people’s lives. Each case resolved and each person supported signifies the importance of what we do, and Law Centre Smithfield helps on average just over 5,000 people per year.”
During his visit, Minister Jim O Callaghan TD met with staff and was given an overview of the vital legal aid services available at the Centre.
